At just three months of age, little Justina Claire (Rausch) snuggled in close as her Grandmother hummed a lullaby to the creaking rhythm of an old rocking chair. Before falling fast asleep, baby Justina softly answered her Grandmother by humming right back to her. Astonished, her Grandma pondered the question, Will this baby be a singer? Growing up in a large musical family, just outside of Garden Plain, KS, it didn't take long for that question to be answered loud and clear.
At the age of eight, she began performing the National Anthem at different activities and sporting events in and around the Wichita, KS area. Her crystal clear voice and more traditional version of the anthem caught the attention of numerous teams (and their fans), including WSU, Wichita Wranglers/Wingnuts, Wichita Thunder and Wichita Stealth Football. She also performed for several local rodeos and was honored to be asked to sing the anthem for the first anniversary of 9-11 in downtown Wichita. Being home-schooled allowed her the unique opportunity to nurture her blooming musical talent. As a member of the Wichita Children's Community Choir at the age of 14, she auditioned for and was selected as one of four in Kansas to perform in the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA) National Honor Choir, held in Los Angeles, CA.
Throughout her high school years, she was privileged to perform for the Daryl Starbird "Cars and Future Stars" Show. She was also awarded 2nd place on three separate occasions at the Sedgwick County Fair Idol Contest, and placed 1st in the regional contest of The Colgate Country Showdown. It was the Colgate Showdown that afforded her the opportunity to perform her original song, Do Cell Phones Work In Heaven, which was also recently featured on KZSN, a local Wichita radio station.
When she was 16, she competed in Kansas City for the regional Today's Talent Network (TTN) competition, winning studio time with producers in Branson, MO. It was there she met Ms. Jana King Evans, a very talented lady who had lived in Nashville for 15 years, working and singing with numerous Country stars and co-producing a Nashville show. Jana quickly took Justina under her wing and for nearly 3 years taught her many things about the music industry. She also helped Justina develop her own unique style of singing. Through Jana, Justina was honored with the opportunity to meet and sing for and/or with Country Music legends such as Pam and Mel Tillis, Mickey Gilley and the Gatlin Brothers.
Moving to Nashville, TN, Justina completed a Music Technology Certification from Nashville State Community College and further developed her music career with guitar lessons, song writing and live performances. Though only there for 3 years, she was honored with the pleasure of meeting and working with many talented and influential people.
After moving back to Kansas to further her education, Justina heard of a band that might be looking for a new female vocalist. It only took one interview, a couple phone calls and a practice session before she was offered that position. She soon felt she was blessed to join a great bunch of guys in Turnback Creek, simply because they quickly made her a part of their musical family. Now she looks forward to the many opportunities she will have performing on-stage with the band, enjoying and sharing the talent God has blessed her with!
A country girl at heart, Justina loves butchering, camping, and visiting her grandpa's farm. She enjoys working with children who have disabilities and volunteers with various activities sponsored through Rainbows United in Wichita, KS. She is the 4th in a family of 5 children and has grown up with 48 cousins, 3 nephews, one niece, and 2 very proud parents who all love and support her throughout all her endeavors. Having her Grandma's question come true is something her family is very proud of!
